For SAJA e.V., the study and work group Joanna de Angelis from Berlin, I designed a website that expresses the association: inviting, calming, and full of spiritual depth. SAJA is a Christian-Spiritist association with roots in Brazil, and the website should reflect this special atmosphere both visually and functionally.
It was important to me not just to convey information, but to create a digital space with my mindful web design where visitors truly feel at home. A place where they can arrive – with a design that gently supports and provides clear orientation.
Color scheme: Yellow as a warm welcome
The color scheme of the website is strongly oriented towards the corporate identity of SAJA e.V. – a warm yellow tone that radiates friendliness, light, and hope. This yellow forms the basis for a calming yet invigorating design.
In addition to the yellow, the shades are chosen to harmonize well with the photos and create a sense of closeness and naturalness. This immediately puts visitors in a relaxed, open mood – exactly what a spiritual association wants to radiate.
Photos: Nature and light as spiritual elements
Images play a central role in the design of the website. I deliberately selected photos that capture the beauty of nature – light, water, trees, gentle landscapes. These motifs not only reflect calm and depth but also symbolically represent the spiritual orientation of the association.
The photos are not overloaded but harmoniously integrate into the overall picture. Thus, they support the feeling of arriving and being at home without distracting.
Web design with clear navigation and link boxes for quick orientation
Right at the beginning of the page, you will find link boxes that allow quick access to the most important areas. This makes navigation particularly user-friendly, especially for new visitors who want to quickly get an overview.
This small but fine feature of the web design greatly facilitates the entry and is a real added value in usability.
Personalities and works – more than just facts
As SAJA e.V. is strongly shaped by inspiring personalities, I have designed various 'About' pages that vividly present these people.
A special highlight is the book slider, which simply shows various works of a personality. When you click on a book, a short summary opens, and you can easily browse through the selection using arrows.
This interactive component brings the page to life and invites exploration.
Events – flexible and clear
Spiritual community also thrives on exchange and shared experiences. Therefore, there is a section on the website for events in Berlin, which is regularly updated.
At the request of the association, individual PDF pages with program details can be embedded here. This keeps everything current and clear – and interested parties can quickly find all important dates.
Inspirational quotes as mood-enhancing conclusions
At the end of many pages, there are quotes that stimulate thought and reinforce the message of the page. My web design combines these with a suitable image that captures the respective mood.
This small poetic note rounds off the user experience and allows the content to resonate longer.
Multilingualism for Brazilian and German-speaking visitors
SAJA e.V. has its spiritual roots in Brazil and also addresses a Portuguese-speaking audience in Berlin and beyond.
The website is therefore bilingual, with simple switching options between German and Portuguese – implemented through a flexible plugin. This way, everyone feels addressed and welcome, regardless of the language spoken.
